When you go to the guitar store, you want to sit down make sure you are really comfortable. My first electric was a Kramer and that guitar is fast as lightning. You probably just need a small amp at first for practicing and a couple of stomp pedals.

I love a good amount of distortion and I prefer delay over reverb. I think delay gives you a much bigger sound.

You want to take the time to really memorize the notes on the guitar and learn chords in every position. Lucky for you, it all repeats on the 12th fret. I absolutely recommend to learn to read music. Sight reading is where you actually play in time as you read so it's almost like reading a book out loud.

Here is a great beginner video to give you a starting place on guitar. Please view below.

I recommend playing five days per week, even if it's just 20 minutes a day. There's no substitute for the momentum you achieve as you build on the previous day's strengths and learn from the weaknesses.

When you take too many days off, you have to regain what you lost and you waste too much energy trying to catch up.
