When you go to the guitar store you will be down to make sure you are really comfortable. My first electric was a Kramer and that guitar is fast as lightning. You just need a small amp at first for practicing and a couple of stomp pedals.

I love a good amount of distortion and I prefer delay over reverb. I think delay gives you a much bigger sound.

Here is a great beginner video to give you a starting place on guitar. Please view below.

You want to take the time to really memorize the notes on the guitar and learn chords in every position. Lucky for you, it all repeats on the 12th fret. I absolutely recommend learning to read music. Sight reading is where you actually play, so you read as much as reading a book out loud.

I recommend playing five days a week, even if it's just 20 minutes a day. There is no substitute for the momentum you gain as you build on the previous day's strengths and learn from the weaknesses.

When you take too many days off, you have to get rid of what you lost and you waste too much energy trying to catch up.
